Our Founder
TO The BEACH was founded in 2023 by Kate Lewis-Buckley, a product design manager originally from Shrewsbury, UK.
Since first visiting The Beach in 2004, shortly after arriving in Canada, Kate decided that this was the place she wanted to call ‘home’. Her only wish was to have a view of the lake (Lake Ontario) and just a few months later found a small apartment with a view of Balmy Beach. She was home!
That year, a neighbour gifted her with her first Beach t-shirt. She loved it so much she went out and bought two more.
“ It made me feel a part of this unique and friendly neighbourhood - this “village-in-a-city”. I was proud to call myself ‘a Beacher’. ”
Nearly 20 years later, her old Beach tees are now proudly worn by her 12-year old daughter: Proof that the iconic Beach design never goes out of style. Seeing her daughter in her old Beach tees was what initially sparked the idea to curate locally-designed, sustainable clothing and homewares featuring that much-loved Beach logo. And so TO The BEACH was born.
Beach apparel and home wares for the next generation of Beachers and Beach-lovers. Because…Once a Beacher, always a Beacher!
Our Beach Dog
Of course, we couldn’t talk about The Beach without mentioning dogs!
Our neighbourhood is well-known for its dogs and dog-lovers. Boasting two off-leash parks with access to the lake, it’s truly a doggo’s paradise.
TO The BEACH’s life-long Beach Dog was sweet-16-year old Lola-Mae, a Lab/Weimaraner mix, who recently went over the rainbow bridge. Lola loved her walks along the boardwalk, dips in the lake and meeting friends in the park.
We miss our sweet, Lola-girl :(
